The concept is simple. Learn or share knowledge on this platform that everyone can read or write on. It is called a wiki and this one is about Forex trading.
Do I need an account to use the wiki?
On this site everybody can read everything and edit site content. You don't need account to enjoy the unrestricted access to the knowledge.
You are encouraged to create account if you want to add or edit content (read how). You will also get reward points when you have an account, so taking the 30 seconds to get an account is well worth it.
Creating a user account means that you supply a username (your real name and/or a nickname) and a password. The system will reject a username that is already in use. A user account is created only once. You are then "logged in". Next time you log in you supply your username again and demonstrate with the password that you are the same person.
Edits you make are recorded under your username. Other users will be able to recognize you by your username when you make changes to pages.

- You will be able to mark an edit as minor, which avoids inconvenience for other users.
- You will be able to keep track of changes to pages you are interested in using a watchlist.
You will find main controls right on the site front page splash. You can access them quickly from any page, just click on Forexwiki logo in the top left corner.

- Create pages A link calling the page creation form. Once the form has popped up, type in a desired page name and press button. You can use this field for editing existing pages as well. Just type in the name of a page that exists. Don't forget page names are case sensitive!
- Upload files Show file path and upload a file.
- Contact us A link to the site contact form.
There are an inbox and a notification bell icons on the top navigation bar. They are to inform you about important system events and about messages form the system or other users that need your attention.
There is a dropdown menu on the top right hand side of the page, between the search field and personal tools menu. It looks like 3 gears.
- TOOLS On hovering it will bring up the menu with a set of external links and with some advanced tools. Explore them all!
Once signed in, you will get your personal menu next to the tools in the top right corner of page. The most important links:
- PREFERENCES You can adjust here a great number of settings. Please, procure to fill in your real name and to set up and to confirm your email address. A confirmed email address will allow you to monitor pages and changes efficiently, receiving notifications at your mailbox. Another settings may remain as is.
- WATCHLIST To stay informed about the changes to page content, you can add any page to your watchlist. Just click on the
Actionspopup menu. A
Watch this pagecheckbox is provided for the same purpose when you are in edit mode. Also you may try
Alt+Ctrl+wshortcut to add or remove the current page from your watchlist. Consider to check
Email me when a page or a file on my watchlist is changedin your preferences as well.
- TALK Other users may leave messages for you here. Once you have unread messages, you will receive the correspondent notification after signing in. Consider to check

There is the
Actions menu available for signed in users in the upper-right corner of a current article. It contains the current page related tools like edit, move, delete, protect, watch or unwatch the page, etc. The visibility of some items in this popup menu may vary depending on the current user rights.
There is a series of links in the very bottom of the page. Explore them or find a description for some of them on other help pages.
How do I search?
There is a "Lookup" link on the top of front page splash, that brings up a simple search form which allows you to go directly to existing page (an article or dictionary term). Just start typing in the search field and then select page from the dropdown list:
The box will return just one page. To find all pages having the search pattern, use the Search box in the upper right corner of each page.
The quickest way to find information in wiki is to look it up directly. On every page there is a search box.
Enter key words and phrases and press Search. If a page has exactly the same title as what you entered (including letter case) you jump straight to that page. Otherwise, it searches all pages on the wiki, and presents a list of articles that matched your search terms, or a message informing you that no page has all the key words and phrases.
The search functionality can be considered to operate on whole words, separated by spaces or other punctuation marks. So if your search term includes the word 'book', the results will not include pages that only have the word 'books' or 'booklet'. And if your search term includes the term 'inter', the results will not include pages that only have the word 'international', but they may include pages that have the term 'inter-national'.
You can search for a phrase using double quotes. A phrase can be considered to consist of whole words (case-insensitive), so the phrase 'Prime Minister' will not be found by a search for "ime Min", but it will be found by a search for "pRIME mINISTER".
Restricting the search
If you click the "Search" button without filling in anything, you will be taken to "Special:Search" which gives you extra searching options (also available from any search results list)
You may find it useful to restrict a search to pages within a particular namespace e.g., only search within the User pages. Check the namespaces you require for this search.
By default only the namespaces specified in your preferences will be searched. Logged-in users can change their preferences to specify the namespaces they want to search by default. This can be done by selecting and deselecting boxes in the ”search” section of user preferences.
How to use reports?
You can find many useful reports on such called special pages. For example:

How do I become an editor?
Once registered your account, you are able to edit almost every text on this wiki.
- CREATE ACCOUNT
Create accountbutton on the front page or follow
Join Forexwikilink at login screen.
- Supply your username and password alongwith a valid email address.
- Save your changes.
- Check your mailbox and click on confirmation link to activate your account.
Congratulations! You are almost done.
- SIGN IN
- Sign in with your crispy new username and password through
Sign Inbutton on the front page.
- Monitor your success: a link with your username will appear in the top right corner next to the small search field. It means that the system has recognized you!
As you are able to read wiki pages without signing in, feel free to sign in to edit pages when it is necessary. You can do it from any page using
Sign In personal tools menu item at the top right navigation bar.
- SET UP YOUR PREFERENCES
- On first signing in, please, hover over the link with your username to call a personal tools menu.
- Type in your name in
Real namefield. It is very important that you give your real name, as we need to evaluate your personal contribution to site content.
- Scroll down to email options and mark
Email me when a page or a file on my watchlist is changedand
Email me when my user talk page is changedcheckboxes.
- Save your changes.
Why it is important to supply and confirm your email address?
- You will be able to reset your password if you forget it,
- You will be able to receive automatic notifications of certain events, if set in your preferences,
- You will be able to receive emails from other users if so set in your preferences (the user who emails you will not know your email address),
- You will be able to send an email to other users if they want as above (your email address will be disclosed on any email you send).
You can come back later to change your preferences if necessary.
How do I create page?
- USING INPUT BOX
Create pages link on the front page and then supply desired page name to the input box and press button or
Enter. If there is no page with the entered name, you will be given an empty notepad like textarea where you can write. If the page with given name exists, it will be open for editing.
- USING LOOKUP BOX
Lookup link on the front page and then supply desired page name to the input box and press
Enter. While you are typing, matches to existing pages are shown in the dropdown box. If there is no page with the entered name, you will be given a message about no matches found and a red link to create the page you asked for. Click on the red link and start editing in texarea provided.
- HUNTING RED LINKS
Links to non-existent pages are red. To create a new page, just click on the red link and start editing in texarea provided. There is a plenty of red links to choose from may be found on Wanted Pages page or in system wide list of missing pages.
Making links is the basic technique for setting relations between various pages. Embedded in your wiki text the links represent a kind of dispersed navigation menu, allowing readers to go deeper or to jump aside to the pre-linked page. The tool you need are square brackets:
- INTERNAL LINKS
Links to the pages of the same wiki are considered as internal ones. Embrace the page name with double square brackets and you will get a simple link. The code
[[What is Forex]] will give you a link What is Forex. The link to existing page is blue and the link to non-existing page is red: DoNotCreatePagesWithSillyNamesLikeThisOne.
Introducing internal links to desired pages into your text you are actually planning the wiki content! There is a page Wanted Pages where users are planning desired content here by explicit creation of red links. Red links created manually on other pages have the same feature but they appear in the system wide list of wanted pages.
You are able to embed a link seamlessly in any context using pipe syntax
| that changes the visible text of the link. The code
[[What is Forex|seamlessly embedded]] will give you a link which text is seamlessly embedded. Take note, that the link is pointing to the page named

- EXTERNAL LINKS
Links to any URL are considered as external ones. Use single square brackets and space to create external links. The code
[http://forexwiki.com external link] will result in external link to a given site. Note, that the first space symbol separates the url from the visible text of the link.
- LINKS TO CATEGORIES
Categories are like virtual folders for your pages. Any page may belong to one or more categories. To categorize the page you are editing, just put a link to category somewhere in the text using the double square brackets syntax and
Category: namespace prefix:
[[Category:Name Of Your Category Goes Here]]. Done! Now your page belongs to the category named
Name Of Your Category Goes Here. Use meaningful names for your categories, of course. To see all pages in category, click on category link created automatically at the bottom of a categorized page.
Categories also may be categorized. They are simply pages in
Category namespace. Start editing any category page and put a link to another category somewhere in the text.
How do I apply formatting?
Mediawiki formatting is very easy. Please find below a comprehensive table to understand its basic rules. A toolbar in edit mode will permit some formatting tasks automation. Look for more details in mediawiki official help.

How do I monitor changes?
A Permanent Improvement Of Knowledge
Contributors are free to change wiki text by editing, adding or deleting some parts. There are some tools that help readers to be informed on the changes.
The purpose of the Recent Changes special page is to keep you updated. The link is in the site footer. You may choose to subscribe to atom feed to receive system notifications about page creation or changing in your mailbox. Find
Atom item in Tools dropdown menu .
The list of recently created pages is available on New Pages special page.
The list of recently uploaded files is available on New Files special page.
Wiki remembers every saved edition of every page. You are able to see how did the page look like in the past. Just click on the
History item in
Actions popup menu. Here you can browse and compare various revision of the current page.
Wiki offers to the registered users an option to monitor changes on certain pages of interest by adding them to the user's personal watch list. Click on the
Unwatch item in
Actions popup menu to add to or remove current page from your watch list. You can see or edit the full list of pages watched at
Watchlist in your personal menu in the upper right corner.
Preferences in the same menu and scroll down to email options. Check
Email me when a page or a file on my watchlist is changed checkbox and you will receive system notifications about page changing in your mailbox.
